Patch 0.1.7 — the soldier who stays
You carry everything you own into a raid. That is the deal, and it is the reason the genre works. It is also the reason a dropped connection used to be the worst thing that could happen to you — not a lost fight, not a bad extraction, just a router blinking in another room. The raid kept your rifle and listed you missing in action, and there was nothing you could have done about it.
This week that stopped being the end of the run. A drop now holds your soldier in the world for a short window while the game works its way back — retries spaced out across the window, a notice on screen telling you where you stand. Return inside it and you walk back into the same raid, the same body, the same pack. Miss it and the raid settles the old way.
The other half of the problem is harder. An extraction shooter cannot let a disconnect become an exit — otherwise the way out of a losing fight is to pull the cable. So the hold has a condition. If you were shooting or being shot at in the moments before the drop, the hold does not apply, and your soldier settles as missing in action. Same if you chose to leave. The window is for the players who lost a connection, not the ones leaving a fight.
New
- Reconnect after a dropped connection. Lose the connection mid-raid and your soldier is held in the world for a short window while the game retries the join. Come back inside it and you are in the same raid, carrying what you carried.
- A connection-lost notice. The screen now tells you the connection dropped, that a rejoin is under way, and — if the window runs out — that you have been listed missing in action.
- Quick match joins a raid already running. Ask for a raid and you now drop into an open one that already has players in it, up to six, instead of always opening an empty world. The queue shows how many seats are filled.
Changes
- Hold and toggle work in networked raids. Aim, sprint, and crouch each honor the hold-or-toggle setting online, the same as they do in a solo raid.
- Deserter bodies are shared. In a raid with other players, a deserter you drop appears as a body for everyone, and everyone can loot it. A deserter falls facing whoever shot it.
- Magazines keep their rounds. A weapon taken off a body arrives with the ammunition it actually had — a deserter’s empty rifle comes up empty, and a player’s weapon keeps whatever was left in it when they fell. Mixed magazines follow the same rule everywhere.
Fixes
- Switching aim, sprint, or crouch between hold and toggle mid-session no longer leaves the action stuck on.
Known issues
- Reconnect covers a connection lost while the game is still running. Coming back from a full crash and relaunch is not in yet.
- Quick match seat counts and the join window are still being tuned.
- Deserter numbers and behavior are still being balanced raid to raid.
