Patch 0.1.5 — the weight of a jump
For most of this game’s life, you could not jump. That was on purpose. A soldier loaded with stolen gear does not vault fences, and we did not want the mobility of a shooter where the way out of a bad fight is up and over a wall. This week we changed our minds — but only halfway.
Jump is in now. Press space and you leave the ground. It is a short, heavy hop — enough to clear rubble or a low crate, not enough to scale a building. And it costs you. Every jump spends a chunk of your breath, so you get a handful before you are winded, and a winded soldier cannot leave the ground at all. When a jump is denied it is denied in silence — the labored breathing already tells you why.
The part we care about most is what a jump does not do: it gives you nothing in the air. Once your boots leave the ground your momentum is locked — no steering, no strafing, no hop cadence off a held key. You commit to the arc the moment you push off, the same way you commit to a sprint. Adding a jump was the easy part. Adding one that keeps the game grounded and heavy took longer, and that was the whole point.
New
- Jump. A short, stamina-costed hop with no air control — press space to clear rubble and low crates. Denied while crouched, and when you are out of breath.
- The world has sound. The game’s soundscape is in. The bunker breathes — drips, rats, a low hum. Items land in your stash with weight, weapons handle with a click and a slide, and the menus answer with quiet foley. No music, no pings — every sound has a source, and your headset is still your radar.
Changes
- Dying plays out now. When you go down, the camera tilts with your body as it falls, then the raid settles into your casualty card. The full death sequence runs on every raid.
- Clearer settings toggles. Each toggle now shows a lit lamp when a setting is on and sits dark when it is off, and the lever art no longer reads backwards.
- A tidier main menu. The map selector and the field reports got an art pass so they sit properly against the bunker wall — no hard rectangle edges.
Fixes
- The Windows build was rendering about two stops too dark on some machines. It now shows at its intended brightness.
- Escape reliably closes the inventory and loot screens.
- A clean-hands extraction achievement now disqualifies you the moment you fire a shot, and a couple of others award on raid entry instead of a beat early.
Known issues
- The new soundscape is still being balanced — some cues are louder or quieter than they will ship.
- A few screens are ahead of their final art. The polish lands when the assets do.
New here? Blood of Rations is a WW2 extraction shooter — solo PvPvE raids in 1944 occupied Europe, Early Access on Steam 5 November 2026. If this is your kind of game, wishlist it on Steam. It is still the number that matters.
